In these terms, “Pursuit of Blue”, “we”, “us” or “our” refers to the promoter of the competitions.
2. About Our Competitions
These terms apply to all competitions promoted on the Pursuit of Blue website: www.pursuitofblue.co.uk
Pursuit of Blue offers online fishing-related prize competitions. Prizes may include fishing boats, rods, reels, tackle, accessories, fishing electronics, outdoor equipment, fishing clothing and other fishing-related items.
Each competition may have its own prize details, entry price, closing date, maximum number of entries, draw method and any additional rules. These will be shown on the relevant competition page.
An entry fee may apply when entering a competition online. Where required, entrants may also need to answer a question or complete another entry requirement before being entered into the draw.
Where a competition uses an easy question, multiple-choice question, or does not require a genuine skill-based question, a free entry route may be made available in accordance with these terms.
3. Opening and Closing Dates
Each competition will display its opening date and closing date on the website. All times and dates are based on London, England time unless stated otherwise.
Entries must be received before the closing time shown on the competition page. Entries received after the closing date or closing time will not be accepted and will not be included in the draw.
We may change the opening date or closing date of a competition where it is necessary to do so. If this happens, updated information will be displayed on the website.
We will not extend a competition simply for the purpose of selling more entries.
4. How to Enter
To enter a competition, you must follow the instructions shown on the relevant competition page.
You may be required to:
- create an account on the Pursuit of Blue website;
- choose the competition you wish to enter;
- select the number of entries you want, subject to any entry limit;
- answer the competition question, if applicable;
- complete checkout and payment, unless using a valid free entry route;
- submit your entry before the competition closes.
Only one account is allowed per person. If we believe that a person has created or attempted to use multiple accounts, we may close those accounts, cancel entries and refuse future participation.
All entries must be submitted in English. Entries submitted in any other language may be rejected.
Once a paid entry has been completed successfully, we will send confirmation by email where possible. It is your responsibility to make sure that your contact details are accurate and kept up to date.
5. Entry Limits
Some competitions may have a maximum number of total entries. Some may also have a maximum number of entries allowed per person.
Where limits apply, they will be stated on the relevant competition page.
Once the maximum number of entries has been reached, no further entries will be accepted.
You may enter more than once unless the competition page states otherwise. Free entries must be submitted separately and cannot be sent in bulk.
6. Free Entry Route
Where a free entry route is available, you may enter without paying online by following the free entry instructions.
Free entries must be sent by post to:
46 Barley Croft, Harlow, England, CM18 7QZ
Your postal entry must include:
- the name of the competition you wish to enter;
- your full name;
- your full postal address;
- your email address;
- your telephone number;
- your answer to the competition question, if one applies.
Postal entries must be sent by first or second class post. Hand-delivered entries will not be accepted.
Each free entry must be sent separately. Multiple entries inside one envelope will be treated as one entry only.
Free entries must be received before the competition closes. Proof of posting is not proof of receipt and does not guarantee entry into the draw.
Incomplete, unclear, incorrect or illegible entries may be rejected.
If the entry limit has already been reached before your free entry is received, your entry will not be included in the draw.
We may not acknowledge receipt of free entries and may not confirm whether a competition question has been answered correctly.
7. Entry Confirmation and Technical Issues
We are not responsible for entries that are lost, delayed, incomplete, corrupted, incorrectly submitted or not received due to technical problems.
This includes issues caused by internet failure, payment processing problems, website errors, server faults, network issues, computer or device problems, or any other technical failure outside our reasonable control.
By entering a competition, you agree to be bound by these terms and any specific rules shown on the competition page.
8. Choosing the Winner
The winner selection method may vary depending on the type of competition.
Main Draws
For standard competitions, all valid entries will be entered into the draw. Where a competition question is used, only entries with the correct answer will be included.
The winner will be selected at random from all valid entries.
The draw will take place as soon as reasonably possible after the competition closes, and normally within 7 days of the closing date unless stated otherwise.
Instant Win Competitions
For instant win competitions, entries may be allocated numbers at random. If an allocated number matches a winning number, the entrant may win the relevant instant win prize.
Automated Draws
We may use automated systems or random number generators to select winners fairly from valid entries.
The draw method for each competition will be explained on the relevant competition page where necessary.
9. Entry Lists and Publication
Entrants’ names and entry numbers may be included in an entry list, draw list or spreadsheet used for draw transparency.
This information may be published on the website or shown during a live draw.
If you do not want your name to appear publicly in connection with a draw list, you must contact us as soon as possible and no later than 48 hours before the draw takes place.
10. Eligibility
Competitions are open to residents of the United Kingdom aged 18 or over, unless a competition page states otherwise.
You cannot enter if you are:
- an employee of Pursuit of Blue;
- directly involved in running or administering the competition;
- an employee of a supplier, agent or partner professionally connected with the competition;
- an immediate family member or household member of any person listed above.
By entering, you confirm that you are eligible to enter and eligible to receive the prize if you win.
We may ask for proof of identity, age, address or eligibility before awarding a prize. If you fail to provide reasonable proof when requested, you may be disqualified.
11. Invalid Entries and Disqualification
We may reject, cancel or disqualify entries that are:
- incomplete;
- automatically generated;
- submitted using false details;
- submitted through multiple accounts;
- connected to fraud, abuse or suspicious activity;
- in breach of these terms;
- contrary to the spirit of the competition.
We may also disqualify an entrant who behaves abusively, dishonestly, fraudulently or in a way that harms Pursuit of Blue, our website, our staff, our suppliers, other entrants or the fair running of the competition.
If an entrant attempts to interfere with the website, manipulate the draw, use unauthorised code, hack the system, use stolen payment details or commit fraud, all entries may be cancelled and no refund will be given.
12. Refunds
Entry fees are generally non-refundable once an entry has been submitted.
No refund will be given if:
- you later discover that you are not eligible to enter;
- you are unable to claim the prize;
- you are disqualified for breaching these terms;
- your entry is rejected because you provided incorrect or incomplete information;
- you entered using more than one account;
- you failed to answer the competition question correctly, where applicable.
This does not affect any legal rights you may have.
13. The Prize
The prize for each competition will be described on the relevant competition page.
We aim to ensure that prize information is accurate at the time the competition opens. However, prize details may occasionally change due to availability, supplier changes or circumstances outside our control.
Prizes may be supplied by third-party suppliers. Where relevant, supplier information may be shown on the competition page.
We reserve the right to replace a prize with another prize of equal or greater value where the original prize becomes unavailable or where it is reasonable to do so.
Unless stated otherwise, prizes are not transferable, exchangeable or negotiable.
14. Cash Alternatives
Some competitions may offer a cash alternative. If a cash alternative is available, this will be clearly stated on the competition page.
Where a cash alternative is offered, the winner may be able to choose between the physical prize and the stated cash alternative.
We may also offer a cash alternative where the original prize becomes unavailable or where circumstances outside our reasonable control make this necessary.
15. Winner Notification
Winners will be contacted using the email address or telephone number provided with their entry.
We will make reasonable efforts to contact the winner after the draw has taken place.
If a winner cannot be contacted, does not respond, fails to provide required information, or does not claim the prize within 14 days of the draw date, we may award the prize to another eligible entrant selected from the valid entries.
The promoter’s decision is final.
16. Winner Publication
We may publish or make available information showing that a valid award has taken place.
This may include the winner’s surname, county, prize won and/or winning entry number.
If you object to your details being published, you must contact us before the competition closes. However, we may still be required to provide winner information to regulators, advertising bodies or other lawful authorities where required.
17. Claiming the Prize
The prize must be claimed by the winner personally. A third party cannot claim a prize on your behalf unless we agree otherwise in writing.
Prize delivery or collection details will be confirmed with the winner.
If your contact details change after entering a competition, you must notify us as soon as possible. If we are unable to contact you because your details are incorrect or outdated, we are not responsible for any failure to award the prize.
If a cash prize is awarded, it will be paid into a UK bank account in the winner’s name. We may request proof that the winner is the sole or joint holder of the nominated bank account.
Failure to provide requested bank or identity information may result in disqualification and forfeiture of the prize.
18. Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Pursuit of Blue, its agents, suppliers and partners will not be responsible for any loss, damage, injury or disappointment suffered by any entrant as a result of entering a competition or accepting a prize.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation or any other liability that cannot legally be excluded.
Your statutory rights are not affected.
19. Data Protection and Publicity
By entering a competition, you agree that we may use the personal information you provide to administer the competition, process entries, contact winners, deliver prizes, verify eligibility, prevent fraud and comply with legal obligations.
Personal data will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
If you win, we may ask you to take part in reasonable publicity, including use of your name, image, town or county, prize details and winner announcement.
If you do not wish to take part in publicity, you should notify us before the competition closes. This will not affect your chance of winning, but we may still need to provide certain winner details where legally required.
If you ask us to delete your personal information during an active competition, this may mean that we cannot contact you if you win. In that situation, you may be treated as having withdrawn from the competition and you may lose the right to claim the prize.
20. Changes, Suspension or Cancellation
We may update these terms from time to time. The latest version will always be available on the website.
We may suspend, cancel, amend or void a competition where it becomes necessary to do so, including where there are technical issues, fraud, legal issues, supplier problems, payment issues or events outside our reasonable control.
We will not cancel or extend a competition simply because not enough entries have been sold, unless the competition page specifically states otherwise.
21. Social Media Disclaimer
Competitions promoted by Pursuit of Blue are not sponsored, endorsed, administered by or associated with Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube or any other social media platform unless clearly stated.
By entering, you agree that social media platforms have no responsibility or liability for the competition.
22. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. You should save or print a copy of these terms for your records.
Anti-Money Laundering and Know Your Customer Policy
1. Purpose of This Policy
Pursuit of Blue takes fraud prevention, identity checks and anti-money laundering responsibilities seriously. Prize competitions can be misused by criminals, for example by using stolen cards, false accounts or fraudulent payment methods to enter competitions and convert prizes into cash. This policy explains the checks we may carry out to protect our website, our customers, our payment providers and the integrity of our competitions.
2. Entrant Responsibilities
Anyone entering our competitions is referred to as an entrant.
By creating an account or entering a competition, you agree to comply with this policy.
You must:
- create your account using your real name;
- provide accurate and current information;
- keep your contact details up to date;
- use only your own payment method;
- enter competitions only through our website or approved free entry route;
- cooperate with reasonable identity, age, address or payment checks.
Anonymous accounts, nicknames, fake names and false details are not allowed.
Only one account per person is permitted.
3. Age and Residency
Entrants must be at least 18 years old and resident in the United Kingdom, unless stated otherwise on a specific competition page.
We may ask for evidence of your age, identity or address before accepting entries or awarding a prize.
4. Identity Checks
From time to time, we may request additional information to verify your identity, investigate suspicious activity or comply with payment provider, fraud prevention or legal requirements.
This may include asking for:
- a passport;
- a driving licence;
- proof of address;
- payment verification;
- bank account confirmation;
- any other reasonable supporting information.
If you do not provide the requested information within a reasonable time, we may suspend or close your account, cancel entries, withhold a prize or refuse future participation.
5. Monitoring and Suspicious Activity
We may monitor accounts, entries, payments and website activity to detect unusual or suspicious behaviour.
This may include:
- multiple accounts;
- repeated failed payment attempts;
- use of different names or payment cards;
- suspicious free entry patterns;
- high-volume entries;
- attempted manipulation of the website;
- behaviour that appears fraudulent or unlawful.
Where suspicious activity is identified, we may investigate and take appropriate action.
6. Payments
Payments must be made through the approved payment methods available on our website.
Cash payments are not accepted.
You must not use stolen, unauthorised or third-party payment details.
If a payment is reversed, disputed, charged back or suspected to be fraudulent, we may cancel the related entries and suspend the account while the matter is investigated.
7. Free Entry Route Abuse
Where a free entry route is offered, we will accept valid free entries in accordance with our terms and legal obligations. However, the free entry route must not be abused. We may review patterns of free entries, including multiple entries, incomplete entries, suspicious postage patterns or entries that appear to use false information. Invalid, incomplete, bulk, suspicious or non-compliant free entries may be rejected.
8. Winners
Before awarding a prize, we may ask the winner to confirm their identity, age, address, eligibility and payment details.
If a winner refuses or fails to provide the requested information, they may lose the right to claim the prize.
For cash prizes, payment will only be made to a UK bank account in the winner’s own name, or a joint account where the winner is one of the named account holders.
We may require evidence of bank account ownership before making payment.
9. Record Keeping
We may keep records of registered users, competition entries, payments, identity checks, documents provided, prize claims and suspicious activity reviews.
These records help us administer competitions, prevent fraud, comply with payment provider requirements and respond to lawful requests from authorities or regulators.
All personal data will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
10. Policy Updates
We may update this Anti-Money Laundering and Know Your Customer Policy from time to time.
The latest version will be published on the Pursuit of Blue website.
By entering a competition, creating an account or using the website, you confirm that you have read, understood and agreed to this policy.
